cilindros hidr\u00e1ulicos est\u00e1n formados por un cuerpo cil\u00edndrico hueco (llamado camisa), rectificado por dentro, y un pist\u00f3n o v\u00e1stago, formado por un tubo macizo, rectificado por fuera. <br \/>El v\u00e1stago se desliza dentro de la camisa debido a la presi\u00f3n ejercida por un fluido contenido en el interior del cilindro. <br \/>El pist\u00f3n dispone normalmente de aros de conexi\u00f3n en los 2 extremos, en los que se introduce un perno adecuado para conectarlo, mediante un sistema especial (generalmente una horquilla en forma de U), al \u00f3rgano mec\u00e1nico que se desea dirigir (como ocurre, por ejemplo, para controlar los movimientos de los brazos de las excavadoras utilizadas para el movimiento de tierra). <br \/>A menudo, el sistema formado por un pist\u00f3n y una camisa se denomina simplemente \u00abpist\u00f3n\u00bb, refiri\u00e9ndose as\u00ed a todo el sistema por el nombre de una de sus partes. <br \/>En concreto, se habla de cilindro hidr\u00e1ulico (o pist\u00f3n hidr\u00e1ulico) si el fluido que se encuentra en el interior del cilindro es un l\u00edquido (generalmente aceite hidr\u00e1ulico), mientras que se habla de cilindro neum\u00e1tico (o pist\u00f3n neum\u00e1tico) si el fluido que se encuentra en el interior del cilindro es un gas (generalmente
